Union to Host Conference
Union Public Schools will host a technology conference for area schools July 26-27, at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center, 6836 S. Mingo Road, featuring Alan November, an international leader in education technology.
The conference general sessions and vendor area are free for any area K-12 or higher education teachers or administrators. Educators will learn how to use Skype, advanced Google searching, podcasting and technology trends in education.
“This conference allows us to expose our teachers to tools that will be useful to learners in the 21st century,” says Lisa Witcher, director of Professional Development. “Moreover, using technology to teach this generation is just common sense. Technology to today’s student is a staple, not an extra. Union’s commitment to excellence will continue into the 21st century.”
Alan November began his career as an oceanography teacher and dorm counselor at an island reform school for boys in Boston Harbor. He has been director of an alternative high school, computer coordinator, technology consultant and university lecturer.
