Union Student Goes to D.C.

11-23-2009

Stephanie Shea McClellan, a 6th grade student at Union 6th and 7th Grade Center, was invited to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference held in Washington, D.C. from Nov. 7 through Nov. 12.

The Junior National Young Leaders Conference offers mature, high-achieving middle school students the opportunity to learn about leadership by studying the leaders of the past and by focusing on social advocacy to make a positive impact in their homes and communities. Through an examination of both different historical time periods and characteristics of leadership, students will gain a better understanding of what it takes to become an effective leader.

Each session of Junior National Young Leaders Conference is designed to educate, inspire and motivate students by giving them the confidence and leadership skills that will take them through high school and beyond. Attending students receive personal guidance and direction from dedicated and experienced faculty advisers and are also provided with materials designed to foster self-directed experiential learning.
