Union Teacher of the Year

ANDREA GAINES: Union Intermediate Pre-AP biology teacher Andrea Gaines was recently named the 2008-2009 Union Public Schools Teacher of the Year, the highest honor awarded to teachers at UPS.

The award makes Gaines eligible to compete for Oklahoma’s top teachers of the year. “There is nothing better than being a teacher,” Gaines says, who fell in love with biology and teaching in college when a friend suggested she become a teacher. Gaines and her passion are still making science interesting today.
