Union Cares

In a partnership between the Union Drug-Free Youth (D-FY) program and the Character Counts program, the “I Care” Project again sought donations to help needy families for the holidays with food and holiday gifts. This year’s theme is “Who Cares? U Cares!”

“This year, students will assist 694 needy Union families, purchasing food for 385 families and holiday gifts for 1,390 children,” explained “I Care” Project and Student Assistance Program coordinator Danny Williams. “The project demonstrates how our students can help those in our community who are less fortunate.” Last year, the program raised about $38,000 and benefited 460 families.

The “I Care” project began in 1996 and has grown in importance since then, Williams said. During a recent meeting, organizers wanted more people to know about the program and distributed English and Spanish forms. For more information, contact Danny Williams at 461-4252.
