Junior League of Tulsa Hosts Family Game Night

FUN AND GAMES: Members of the Junior League of Tulsa recently hosted Operation Family Fun at five area elementary schools.

The Junior League of Tulsa (JLT) recently hosted the first Operation Family Fun at five local elementary schools. Dozens of Junior League members went to each school to play board games with school children and their families.

Those attending enjoyed face painting, door prizes, pizza and drinks. Each family also received a family care kit and board game at the end of the evening.

The five participating schools included Grove, McAuliffe, Eugene Field, Mark Twain and Marshall Elementary Schools. The event was underwritten by The Gelvin Foundation.

Shea Eby, community program vice president, says, “The Junior League of Tulsa is reaching out to families across Tulsa as our volunteer corps builds relationships and provides quality family time.” Eby continues, “I worked on our last family enrichment night at Cooper Elementary School and knew it was rewarding for the families and our volunteers alike. This year, we wanted to take the concept to a higher level.”

Sarah Dougherty, community council vice president adds, “We are so excited to be offering this experience through our community partner, Tulsa Area Community Schools Initiative. The Junior League often undertakes projects with a huge impact, and this is a perfect example.”

Founded in 1923, the Junior League of Tulsa, Inc., is a nonprofit organization of nearly 800 women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. For more information, visit www.jltulsa.org.
