TPS Students Unveil Wild Art

ROYAL ENGAGEMENT: Miss Oklahoma Taylor Treat met the young artists of Mark Twain Elementary during the unveiling of their mural at the Tulsa Zoo.

The Tulsa Zoo welcomed a regal guest and a class of young artists Nov. 2. Mark Twain Elementary’s Youth Action Council Art Ambassadors have worked tirelessly to complete a special mural on the Tulsa Zoo’s new Jaguar Junction ice cream shop.

The mural was almost complete and as a special “treat”, Miss Oklahoma Taylor Treat stopped by to lend a hand. Treat and the 4th and 5th graders who have worked on this project, from researching the rainforest to creating the concept, put the finishing touches on the mural.

Miss Oklahoma’s platform is engaging students through service learning, so when she learned about the project, she was delighted to get involved with YACAA, which is a service learning program that engages 4th and 5th grade students in community service while promoting the arts.
