Head Soccer Coach John Croisant for the Edison Eagles Lady Soccer team has a lot of elements to consider for a successful season.

“We expect to have a strong year with a long pull in to the playoffs this year,” Croisant says. “If we can stay healthy, defend as a team and utilize our new players with the group of strong returning players from last year, we will be successful.”

The Lady Eagles have a promising group of girls this year, with ten returning starters from last year’s squad. They are looking to improve on their 8-7 record in the 2008 season. They have a strong work ethic and a few new players to help out with that goal.

“Our players are more advanced from a year ago,” says Croisant. “We have three new transfers from Cascia Hall, Bishop Kelley and a girl from Austin, Texas that has moved to Tulsa.”

Twins Grace and Kay Durbin, returning starters, have won eight state championships playing club soccer throughout high school. Their goal is to win a state championship their last year in high school.

Along with their goalkeeper Sara Regowby, the three have been offered college scholarships from Rogers State University and a college in Kansas City.

Angela Halford is another notable player. She has given added speed to the Lady Eagles and is also a member of the track team.

The team says their goal for 2008 is to dethrone Bishop Kelley, a team who has garnered ten straight championships. All the Edison players want to beat the top teams. If all goes well, the Lady Eagles should be one of the top teams in the 5A District. They are working hard to make that happen.
