Established in 2006, Visiting Angels of Green Country has provided quality homecare for individuals in need throughout Owasso, Broken Arrow, Tulsa and surrounding communities.
Having reached out to others over the last 23 years as a pastor, Page Cole could not have imagined a better way to continue his path of care than to begin his own Visiting Angels agency. “This gave me the opportunity to get outside of the walls. Every day, we are either doing something good for a client or a caregiver.”
The mission of the agency is to help individuals live the highest quality of life in their own home. “We are able to provide quality care to them so that they do not have to uproot themselves from their homes where they feel most comfortable.”
Visiting Angels provides assistance in meal preparation, housekeeping, errands, shopping, walks, medication reminders and most importantly, companionship.
Caregivers have the most rewarding positions and often have had the personal experience of caring for a loved one. It always seems to bring a family comfort when the caregiver has experienced a similar situation and knows just what to expect.
The agency offers affordable hourly rates and hourly to 24 hour care for those who are unable to leave their homes. Caregivers are available on a temporary or long term basis as well as weekends and holidays.
When a family is interested in homecare options, the agency will arrange a meeting to understand the needs of the individual. Then, the agency will match a caregiver with the individual based on common interests and compatible personalities. “This is what really makes our agency unique. Many times, we feel like matchmakers!”
With the companionship that quickly forms, caregivers and clients often break down their titles to family. Special memories are built and friendships formed along the way between them.
Ashley Stokes, marketing director, describes the unique relationship between a current caregiver and client. “They both love to bake! Almost every day, they start out in the kitchen making all kinds of treats. They have so much fun together.”
Cole adds that another client was a veteran but had never been to the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. “Along the way, the caregiver noticed a photograph on the wall of an individual that looked a lot like his client. With much surprise, the client told the story behind the photograph to the tour guide. He had been in the Air Force and the photo was taken of his squadron. It didn’t just make his day, it made his life!”
