JHS Showchoir Wins at Nationals

VOCAL TALENT: Jenks High School Showchoir recently competed in the FAME Nationals Showchoir Competition.

Jenks High School Trojanaires traveled to Branson, Missouri recently to compete in the FAME Nationals Showchoir Competi-tion. This 44-member team is comprised of juniors and seniors who have worked hard all year by arriving to practice at 6:45 a.m. each school day. The Trojanaires competed with schools from Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin and were victorious in winning the Grand Champion Cup, Best Vocals and Best Show Design. Jenks senior, Kara Erwin, came away with the award for Best Female Soloist, while senior Brian Nhira was awarded Best Stage Presence.

With this year’s Trojaniare program centered on the idea that each of us can make a choice to inspire change, Directors Larry Downey and Julie Hester have helped facilitate multiple service projects and performances for the Trojanaires throughout the year. Working and entertaining for school, community, and global fundraisers such as Tulsa CASA for Children and Water Wells for Ghana, each Trojanaire has taken an active role in making a change in the world.

This award winning Trojanaire performance was also showcased during the JHS Vocal Music Spring Concert on Monday, May 10 in the Jenks High School PAC. All other JHS vocal performance groups were featured. Non-perishable food items were collected in the lobby for donation to the Jenks Community Food Bank.
