Chamber Holds Banquet
The Jenks Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Inaugural Banquet was held Thursday, Jan. 21 at the Oklahoma Aquarium.
This annual event included dinner and entertainment within an elegant atmosphere. This Inaugural Banquet recognized the vision of excellence that flows through the community that included installation of the 2010 Board of Directors, speeches by the outgoing and incoming chairperson, awards, dinner and a private viewing of the Oklahoma Aquarium.
Comedian Barry Friedman entertained guests. Friedman does radio commentary and guest hosts Studio Tulsa, a daily news and affairs show, on NPR; has appeared in Esquire; writes a monthly column “Barry Friedman at Large” for TulsaPeople; contributes to MediaPost; and is a contributing writer for Explorer Magazine, an oil and gas journal, which, in itself, is humorous, because Barry knows nothing about the oil and exploration business and has actually hurt himself pumping his own gas.
The Jenks Chamber also presented community awards to Business Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Community Impact and the Ed Gerchman Leadership Award.
The evening also included a private viewing of the Oklahoma Aquarium. Proceeds from the banquet went to the Jenks Chamber of Commerce and the George E. Tedford Memorial Scholarship Fund.
