Classic Season Comes to an End

By DANIEL C. CAMERON

Given all the drama that came with this season, Jenks has overcome huge obstacles and turned what could have been a nightmare into a gem.

The season ended with a loss in the title match between two heavyweights, but that does not take away from all the good that is the 2009 season. The Trojans rallied in the second half versus Union in the state championship game and played outstanding football.

Jenks was undefeated in the regular season, taking the 6A-3 title without ever flinching. At various times the Trojans ranked No. 19 in the Rivals High 100, No. 12 in the National Prep Poll, No. 11 by MaxPreps and No. 7 in the ESPN Rise Fab 50 national rankings. The team was also ranked No. 2 by the National Prep Poll southwest rankings.

Zack Langer is undoubtedly the best running back in the state. He was the 6A top rusher and had 25 regular season touchdowns. Langer broke the Trojans’ single game touchdown record with seven on the road versus Bartlesville on Oct. 23, where he racked up 295 yards on 23 carries; Truly an epic performance.

Langer is a Ford Award nominee and was named the MaxPreps National Player of the Week after the Bartlesville game.

Langer and his quarterback, Sawyer Kollmorgen, are both juniors. The possibilities of what these two may accomplish in 2010 is mind-boggling.

Jake Alexander is also a Ford Award Nominee. Alexander, offensive lineman, has committed to the University of Tulsa. Also committing to the Golden Hurricane is tight end Tyler Ott.

Offensive lineman Bob Graham has committed to Iowa State University.
Kudos to Loren Montgomery for a great season.
