This winter sports season has been remarkable at Jenks. The swimming team won the boys and girls state championship, making it the 18th state title since 1990 by either the guys or girls.

The boy’s basketball team was outstanding, earning runner-up at state after a 27-win season. Doug McKnight and Bryson Pope earned All-Tournament 1st team honors while Brian Brookey earned 2nd team All-Tournament honors.

Trojan Rugby plays in the Green Country High School Rugby league and competes at a high level there against local and regional teams.

The Jenks Trojan Ice Hockey Team won their fourth straight City Championship this season. They did it by beating the Tulsa Comets in a heated best of three series. It was quite an accomplishment for a team that graduated four solid seniors the previous year. Coach Sly Naud, ex-Tulsa Oiler, developed a strategy that paid dividends in the end. Throughout the regular season he gave the younger and less experienced players a lot of playing time. This resulted in few regular season wins. “But by the end of the season no one will want to play us” quipped Naud.

Jenks lost the first game of the finals against the Comets in a shootout after 50 minutes of intense hockey including a scoreless five minutes overtime period. The momentum shifted heavily to Jenks and they won the second two games 5-1 and 4-1.
The team was lead by Senior Captain Justin Bailey who played relentlessly in his final high school games.

The Tulsa high school hockey league is composed of varsity and junior varsity teams from Union, Broken Arrow, Comets and Jenks. Anyone interested in getting involved with hockey in Tulsa is encouraged to contact Cheryl Estep at caestep@cox.net.
