DAVID PEOPLES, OWNER, RiverWalk Scooter & Cycles
Unhappy about rising gasoline prices? David Peoples has a suggestion: buy a scooter.
“Scooters and cycles are practical, easy to park and get great gas mileage,” says the owner of the recently opened Riverwalk Scooters and Cycles in Jenks. “And, they’re fun!”
Americans have had a fascination with scooters since Audrey Hepburn rode one in ‘Roman Holiday’ and more recently they’ve been seen in the Austin Powers films. But the scooter’s rapidly growing popularity has rocketed right along with soaring gas prices and increasingly hard-to-find parking spaces in downtown areas.
And now, consumers can choose a well-built, economical American-made brand—the Vento.
“The Vento is the fastest growing cycle company in the United States,” says Peoples. “It offers the best of all worlds—it is a U.S. made product with the best warranty, great styling and terrific pricing. They simply make a beautiful product.”
Peoples became the first Vento authorized dealer in Oklahoma and paved the way for the company’s entrance to the Sooner market. Within days of his store opening five other Oklahoma dealers opened in other areas of the state.
Riverwalk Scooters and Cycles services the scooters, cycles and four-wheelers they sell and also has a full inventory of accessories including helmets and gloves.
Financing options are available through partnerships Peoples has made with local banks that go as low as $0 down for qualifying consumers.
“Prices are so reasonable that you could easily wind up with a monthly payment as low as $50.”
Riverwalk Scooters has a layaway plan allowing a customer to pay half down and deferring the final half until pick up on December 23.
Christmas will come a few days early for the lucky customer who wins the EX100 Avalanche off-road four-wheeler that Peoples is giving away December 23—a prize valued at $1,499.
“All you have to do is come in and register at the store—no purchase necessary,” he says.
Peoples is offering a Trojan Special during the holiday season where any student with a Jenks Trojan identification card who buys a scooter, cycle or four-wheeler will get a free helmet valued at $119.
“We want everyone to know that we are glad to be a part of Jenks and excited to be located along the Riverwalk area,” he says.
Peoples offers four different scooter models that range in price from $1,499 to $2,799. He also carries highway legal cruiser cycles that can go up to 80 M.P.H. and a line of off road pit bikes.
“Our most expensive unit—the V-Thunder cruiser—is priced at only $3,599 making these a very economical mode of transportation.”
“With scooters you don’t straddle them, you sit on them, resting your feet on a floorboard in front of you,” he says. “This gives even the inexperienced rider a feeling of stability that you might not get on a cycle.” Scooters also have leg shields that protect from dust and puddles.
The Vento cycles rival any cycle on the street in terms of styling, he says.
Another advantage to the Vento line is that you can order parts yourself from their website, www.vento.com. They have great dealer support with over 250 locations in 30 states.
“A common complaint you’ll hear about other brands is the difficulty in getting parts,” he says. “That doesn’t happen with Vento. And, again, we service what we sell right here in Jenks. People want to know you will take care of them after the sale.”
Peoples has plans to expand the store after the first of the year and will add a full line of cycle leathers for men, women and children.
“With the great pricing, the reliability and quality of the machines, and the local service, I think customers will find everything they want in a scooter, cycle or four-wheeler right here at Riverwalk Scooters and Cycles,” 9th and Main in Jenks.
