Oasis Nasal Wash Offers Tips for Fall Allergy Season

If you suffer from allergies, Oklahoma City and Tulsa may not be among your favorite places to watch the leaves turn color this fall. Last year, Oklahoma City ranked #4 and Tulsa #8 for being among the “Most Challenging Places to Live with Fall Allergies,” according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.* Both cities are widely expected to make the list of Top 100 cities again this year, though final numbers are not yet available.

“It’s that time of year again when allergies try to get the best of us, whether it’s a runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, watery eyes or other symptoms,” said Dr. Scott Cordray, a board-certified Otolaryngologist (ENT) – Head & Neck Surgeon and creator of Oasis Nasal Wash and Oasis Nasal Spray. “While we can’t alleviate the pollen and ragweed in the air, there are proven strategies, like nasal washing with products like Oasis, that remove allergens and toxic proteins from the mucus in our nasal passages, eliminating allergy symptoms and preventing other related illnesses.”

Oasis offers the following tips to help alleviate fall allergy symptoms this season:

1. Change the time and location of your exercise routine. Avoid exercising in the early morning between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., since that is when pollen is usually emitted. Exercise indoors whenever possible, or find a place that is removed from green vegetation.
2. Reduce exposure to pollen by staying indoors on dry, windy days. The best time to step outdoors is just after a rain, which helps to clear pollen and other allergens from the air.
3. Wear a dust mask while outside mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, raking leaves or working in other debris-laden environments.
4. Remove clothes worn outside when you return indoors, and shower to rinse pollen from your skin and hair.
5. Ban dogs and cats from your bed during allergy season, as pollen clings to pet fur.
6. Use a high-efficiency particular air (HEPA) filter in your bedroom, and clean floors with a vacuum cleaner that has a small-particle or HEPA filter.
7. Use the air conditioner in your house and car, which filters the air, removing tiny granules of pollen and other allergens that have a way of sneaking indoors.
8. Encase mattresses, box springs and pillows in allergy-proof covers to help keep out dust mites.
9. Wash sheets and blankets in water heated to at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit (54 degrees Celsius).
10. Vacuum carpets weekly. Consider replacing carpeting with laminate flooring or another hard material that won’t collect dust mites and other allergens, especially in your bedroom.

Allergies are the fifth-leading chronic disease, with more than 50 million people affected by allergies every year in the U.S. alone. Daily nasal wash and nasal spray is now considered by the medical profession to be the primary treatment for allergies and other related sinus issues and can be extremely valuable in helping to prevent allergy symptoms and other airborne viruses.

“Nasal washing has long been a practice in other cultures and in recent years has caught the attention of ENTs in the U.S.,” Cordray said. “Rather than simply addressing the secondary infections that can occur as a result of untreated allergy symptoms, many ENTs recommend nasal cleansing as the preferred first line of defense. Even in those cases where infection is present, nasal cleansing can dramatically decrease a patient’s down time.”

Oasis Nasal products, initially developed by Cordray for his patients, provide even greater benefits because the products are made using Dead Sea Salt.

“Dead Sea Salt is the only salt in the world that has a unique, mineral rich composition with highly-effective anti-inflammatory properties that reduce swelling and nasal congestion, helping patients breathe easier,” he said. “Reduced swelling and congestion also minimizes the possibility of developing secondary illnesses or infection.”

“Because Oasis Nasal products are all-natural, they provide the safest, most effective prevention and treatment available, without the risk of harmful side effects associated with other medicated products.”
