TULSA, Okla. – PSA – At last, the first day of spring is at hand. While Up with Trees has been planting through the coldest months, they’ve also been getting ready for this budding season; preparing for 5,000 container-tree and 10,000 seedling giveaways, spring 2010 Citizen Forester program, multiple spring fairs, fests & events, and of course, lots of tree planting opportunities.
Your help is what makes their success possible. Every field opportunity and event is a chance to foster awareness of the importance of tending Tulsa’s tree canopy. Up With Trees will add to their calendar as the season progresses, here is a current at-a-glance look at the schedule, please say you’ll join in!
Plantings
• Sat., March 20th 10 a.m. - NeighborWoods Planting with Bowman Acres Neighborhood, meeting at Terrace Park located off of 77th E. Ave & 25th Place
• Tues., March 23rd 10 a.m. – Planting at East Central High School, 12150 East 11th Street
• Thurs., March 25th 10 a.m. - NeighborWoods Planting with Hoover Neighborhood, meeting at Darlington Park on the corner of 29th & Darlington
• Sat., March 27th 10 a.m. – NeighborWoods Planting with Harvard Park Village, 5206 S. Harvard
• Wed., March 31st 10 a.m. - Planting at Zarrow International School, 2714 South 90th East Avenue
• Sat. April 3rd 10 a.m. – Planting at Discovery School of Tulsa, 4821 South 72nd East Avenue

Hands On Opportunities
• Weds., March 24th @ 9 a.m. – Help unload trees from Apache Foundation tree grant! meeting at PSO substation at 3600 S. Elwood, help Up With Trees unload a shipment of 5,000 trees, for non-profit, faith-based groups and responsible individuals. Information regarding pickup times and species availability to follow.
• Fri., March 26th @ 9 a.m. – Help wrap seedlings for giveaway! Up With Trees, volunteer to get first pick of this season’s species — join us for coffee & donuts and help prep seedlings for distribution.
Outreach at Spring Fairs & Fests (please let April at Up With Trees know if you’d like to represent Up With Trees to pass out seedlings and informational pamphlets)
• Sat., March 27th from 9am-3pm – Ecofest at Tulsa Community College – Northeast Campus, 3727 E Apache St.
• Sat., April 10th from 9am-3pm – Springfest at the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria
• Sat., April 17th from 9am-4pm – Earth Fest at Tulsa Zoo, 5701 E 36th Street North
• Tues., April 20th from 11am-2pm – Green Fest at St. John’s Medical Center, 1923 South Utica Ave.
• Thurs., April 22nd from 10am-2pm – Enviro Expo on Main Mall, Downtown Tulsa

• Green Leaf Gala, Tuesday, April 20th, 6:30 p.m. cocktail hour, followed by elegant dinner, silent and live auctions – New Ballroom at the Tulsa Convention Center, our largest annual fundraiser, invitation to follow
• Redbuds & Runways, Saturday, May 8th, 7-10 p.m. @ The Ivey – 3340 South Peoria Avenue, locally charged fashion show & charity event benefiting Up With Trees.
Education
