LaTanya Short won two events on Saturday

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University track and field team claimed 11 wins at the Oklahoma Christian Indoor II on Saturday.

LaTanya Short (Grandview, Mo.) highlighted play on the women's side with two event wins. Short took the top spot in the long jump with a height of 5.96 meters, while teammateKendall Reynolds (Lompoc, Calif.) placed third with a mark of 5.31 meters. Short soared to a height of 12.04 meters for the win in the triple jump event, followed by Reynolds in second place (11.83 meters).

Senior Rachel Talbert (Newton, Kan.) also took first in a field event, posting a mark of 14.27 meters in the shot put.

In the 60-meter dash, Latisha Jacobs (Oklahoma City, Okla.) raced to a first-place finish with a time of 7.68, whileCornesha Wilkerson (Tulsa, Okla.) and Miesha Dinkins(Jenks, Okla.) tied for second with a time of 7.81.

TK Whitfield recorded a win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.92, followed by Whitney Mills(Tulsa, Okla.) in third (25.96).

The Golden Eagles took the top two spots in the one-mile run, as Sheilah Ndasym (Eldoret, Kenya) placed first with a time of 5:16.18 and Marta Adamiec (Concord, Calif.) finished second with a time of 5:16.78.

On the men's side, Marvin Bonde (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) posted a time of 6.81 to take the top spot in the 60-meter dash.

Jeffery Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas) raced to a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.45, followed by Jeramy Roberts in second (50.55).

ORU swept the 3000-meter run event, led by Jonah Lagat (Kapsabet, Kenya) with a time of 8:38.84. Shadrack Koech (Kapsabet, Kenya) placed second with a time of 8:49.00, followed byJoseph Chebaibai (Lessos, Kenya) with a mark of 8:49.10.

The men's 4x400 relay team also claimed a win with a time of 3:20.23.

The Golden Eagles travel to the Cyclone Classic next weekend in Ames, Iowa.
