The Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF) has announced a matching challenge grant totaling $1 million for Tulsa area nonprofits that provide basic needs and health services to their communities. TCF is asking the public to contribute $275,000 by Dec. 31, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.
The American Electric Power Foundation (AEP) committed the initial $150,000 gift; George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF) and Tulsa Area United Way (TAUW) have each committed $150,000 toward the drive for a total of $1 million. Between its initial and matching gifts, GKFF’s total community contribution comes to $425,000.
Groups that will receive funding through the community challenge grant include, among others, Catholic Charities, Goodwill, John 3:16 Mission, Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Emergency Infant Services, Neighbor for Neighbor, Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, Youth Services of Tulsa, Community Health Connection and Parent Child Center of Tulsa.
Contributions can be made to TCF through their secure Web site at www.tulsacf.org, by donating at any Bank of Oklahoma (BOK) branch or by mailing a check to Tulsa Community Foundation at 7030 S. Yale Ave., Suite 600; Tulsa, OK 74136.
