Tina Brown, considered the most high profile magazine writer in the world, spoke to a large room of students and press Dec. 5 before the Tulsa Town Hall meeting at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
Brown answered questions about herself and her books and gave advice to the students on how to get started in journalism. She also pointed out that everyone has a story and that everywhere she goes she gets involved in that story.
“There is no wasted encounter when you’re a journalist,” she says.
Brown wrote, “The Diana Chronicles,” and is currently working on “The Clinton Chronicles.” Her latest venture is the online magazine “The Daily Beast.”
“There’s an electric connection,” she says. “It’s incredible fun at the Daily Beast.” The web magazine has already received two million hits since it went live in October of 2008. The way Brown stays motivated in the face of adversity is by her passion.
“Believe in your own ideas,” she says. “If you think you can get it done, then prove it.”
