Growing up in the sixties in Tulsa, Angie K. Owens couldn’t have imagined that she would return years later as president of one of the largest credit unions in the country.

Owens graduated from Jenks High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University and a master’s in finance from the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1992, she began her career with American Airlines in the Tulsa office.

Owens served as the American Airlines Federal Credit Union’s senior vice president-community relations and financial services from 2002 to 2005. She was also responsible for the credit union’s business development, credit education and member special assistance efforts. Owens was American Airlines’ General Auditor from 2005 to 2007.

AA Credit Union celebrated the grand opening of its newest of three branches in Oklahoma on May 17 with more than 250 Tulsans in attendance. The grand opening celebration took place at the Broken Arrow branch in The Village at Stone Wood Hill Shopping Center, 439 West Stone Wood Drive, near the intersection of Interstate 51 and E. 61st St.

The celebration included exclusive, limited-time, special offers available for new and current members at the Broken Arrow branch only. A ribbon cutting ceremony took place and visitors enjoyed the latest models of autos, ski boats, fishing boats and jet skis which were on display. A special performance by the Broken Arrow High School Trumpet Ensemble also took place at the celebration.

“We are delighted to provide another new, convenient, full-service branch to our member-owners living in the Tulsa area,” says Owens. “This branch provides an added level of convenience for the day to day lives of our busy members who live and work in this area,” she added.

American Airlines Federal Credit Union was founded in 1936, and today serves the present and retired employees of American Airlines, their family members and others who work in the air transportation industry. AA Credit Union has more than 210,000 member-owners and assets of $4.8 billion. As a cooperative financial services institution, the Credit Union’s goal is to provide the best possible benefits and services for its member-owners.
