Blooming Deals Events Back by Popular Demand
READY TO DEAL: Looking forward to this year’s Blooming Deals are, from left, Blooming Deals committee members Ann Weber, Anne Darnell Gillingham and Jessica Cooper.
The Junior League of Tulsa, Inc. will host Blooming Deals, one of the Tulsa-area’s largest rummage sales, on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tulsa Event Center. Tickets will be available at the door for $2.
“Blooming Deals will feature thousands of new and gently used items including antiques, furniture, electronic equipment, toys, books, clothing and vintage items,” says Anne Darnell Gillingham, Blooming Deals event chair. “We work to collect quality items through our members and select local merchants to ensure that our shoppers have a unique and satisfying shopping experience.”
In addition to the rummage sale, the public is also invited to the casino-themed Blooming Deals Preview Party on Friday, Nov. 17, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Tulsa Event Center. Guests will have the first opportunity to view and purchase items at twice the price, while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Entertainment will also include casino tables and a silent auction.
Blooming Deals is one of the Junior League’s largest and most popular fundraising efforts. Proceeds from Blooming Deals benefit the Junior League’s many community service programs—programs that offer hope and assistance to those in need.
Throughout the year, League members work to identify important needs within the community and create programs to serve those needs. The League places special focus on serving women and children in transition.
Current Junior League programs include developing and implementing a volunteer program for the Child Abuse Network, providing short-term volunteer assistance and strategic planning for the Laura Dester Children’s Shelter, assisting with the new mother and family support program at St. Francis Hospital, numerous “done in a day” volunteer service projects, and awarding two $1,500 JLT Founders Scholarships to female high school seniors in the Tulsa area.
Founded in 1923, the Junior League of Tulsa, Inc. is an organization of nearly 1,000 women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Junior League members have contributed more than 1.5 million volunteer hours and have raised more than $5 million in support of the Tulsa community. JLT’s purpose is exclusively educational and charitable with a focus on educating, mentoring and contributing to the well being of women and children.
