Cirrus Hair Center Provides Top Hair Loss Solutions

SELF-ESTEEM TREATMENT: Cirrus Hair Center of Tulsa Owner Michael Son, left, and employee Meloney Levy demonstrate how Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) treatment works. LLLT is one of three hair-loss treatment options that customers can receive at the clinic, located at 1660 E. 71st St.

Michael Son is a founding board member of Cirrus Hair Centers and owns Cirrus Hair of Tulsa at 1660 E. 71st St.

Son, who was confronted with hair loss questions at a young age, purchased the original Apollo Hair Center in Tulsa (established in 1983) on Jan. 1, 2000. Almost a decade later, Cirrus became its own franchise company and has grown into the largest American-owned hair loss center.

Son sat down with GTR to discuss common hair loss misconceptions and the fast and maintainable solutions.

GTR: What is the age range of your clients?

Michael Son: 14-87 years young. Our youngest client is 14 and has non-surgical hair replacement. We have ones who are in their 20s who come in for hair loss prevention treatment because they have a family history of losing hair. Others of various ages come to us because they have temporarily lost some of their hair due to stress or chemical imbalance. (One of the leading effects of stress is hair loss.) Those individuals go through a round of treatments to get their hair loss under control.

GTR: When individuals walk into your clinic for the first time, what can they expect?

MS: They will walk into a friendly, happy, and healthy atmosphere. The first thing we do is take them through a free consultation to learn about their particular problem and find out if there’s any procedure they are particularly interested in. Our goal is to find out which of our three treatment options will work for them and make them feel better about themselves.

GTR: What are your treatment options?

MS: Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) utilizes a cold laser for preventative treatment and advanced hair loss. Its purpose is to reestablish blood circulation and make hair follicles more receptive to vitamins and hair growth. The Ciraderm Hair-Loss Product line enhances LLLT by balancing the scalp’s ph and cleaning the hair follicles of bacteria and micro-organisms. LLLT is done at the clinic usually 2-3 times per week, and Ciraderm products are used at home. Clients also have the option to purchase a Hair Max, iGrow, or LaserCap in order to save time and money and to do their treatments at home.

Another option is non-surgical hair replacement. This the fastest way to “Get Your Hair Back.” It is a custom hair replacement that is designed to fit their head specifically. We design a custom matrix of the client’s head in order to fit their head correctly. Then match the client’s hair color in the new matrix.

For our third option, we work with Dr. Shelly Friedman, a hair transplant surgeon based in Scottsdale, Ariz. Dr. Friedman is the founding president of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and has educated more than 80 percent of transplant surgeons around the world. Clients who desire this option receive an airline voucher to fly to Scottsdale for the procedure. He’s a master at updating older hair transplant technology and utilizes LLLT for amazing results.

GTR: What misconceptions do you encounter in your line of work?

MS: Hair loss is often only attributed to older individuals, but people of all ages can experience it, including those who have undergone brain surgery, car accidents, or other trauma where they can’t grow hair due to skin grafts. Medications cause hair loss as well as things that cause a person’s body to lose nutrients, such as having your stomach stapled. I also have clients who are undergoing chemotherapy and aggressive weight loss programs. Some might have sustained a disfiguring injury that causes people to stare.

Another misconception is that it takes a long time to see results; we can get a person in a non-surgical hair replacement in as quick as a week. And with ongoing maintenance, just like a person gets a haircut, we can keep the hair looking great.
Having hair helps people feel younger and more competitive in the tough job market. It helps them feel more confident about themselves. Bottom line is it’s about self-esteem and confidence. The person sitting next to you might be one of our clients.
