B.A. Student Reflects, Looks Ahead to College

Broken Arrow seniors are taking a step forward while looking back on the memories that they have made while attending Broken Arrow High School. From their very first day of class to their last, seniors have experienced a number of positive changes that the school has undergone.

Students Named Academic All-State Award Winners

Broken Arrow High School seniors Anna Bennett and Jill Graves have been selected as recipients of the prestigious Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic All-State Scholar Award.

Oliver Student Wins Oklahoma Law Day Competition

Oliver Middle School sixth grader Jake Pittman is one of the big winners in the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Oklahoma Law Day 2010 competition.

Naturalization Ceremony Held

There are 39 new United States citizens following a March 10 Naturalization Ceremony at Centennial Middle School.

Centennial students and staff watched a live civics lesson unfold in front of them as United States Magistrate Judge T. Lane Wilson, a Broken Arrow High School graduate, presided over the U.S. Northern District Court session.

Celebrating Success

Arrow Springs Elementary celebrated its 30th birthday in grand style with a party that gave current students, parents and staff an opportunity to renew acquaintances or meet for the first time former students and staff who returned to the Arrow Springs campus for the big event to enjoy birthday cake and three decades of memories.

Year of the Tiger in the Valley

This basketball season has seen some great players in Broken Arrow black and gold. To name a few, Marnard Grant, Seth Dennis and one of the most talented players this state has ever seen, Jake Toupal lead the no. 2 team in the state.

B.A. Girls Finish with Win

In an up and down season for the varsity girl’s squad, the final home stand ended in an exciting overtime win over Sapulpa 39-38.

Star senior Valerie Santiago scored 17 points to crown her career. Chelsi Dennis, who is expected to take over as the team leader next year, scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds. The rest of B.A.’s leading scorers were Brooke Scott with six, Jessica Sprung had four and Hannah Lewis penned three.

Wood is Coach of the Year

Michael Wood of Broken Arrow has been awarded the 2009 US Youth Soccer Girls Recreation Coach of the Year award for Region III. Region III is essentially made up of southeastern states.
