FFA Member Receives Tulsa State Fair Scholarship
DEDICATED LEARNING: Jessi Collins, a senior at Broken Arrow High School, has been selected to receive the Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Scholarship awarded by the Tulsa State Fair Ringmasters.
Broken Arrow High School senior FFA member Jessi Collins has been selected to receive the Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Scholarship awarded by the Tulsa State Fair Ringmasters, a citizen volunteer group from the Tulsa area dedicated to supporting 4H and FFA students.
Collins is one of 30 high school seniors from across the state selected to receive one of the Ringmasters’ $1,500 college scholarships. The criteria for selection of the scholarship recipients included involvement in extra-curricular activities, economic need, participation in the Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Show and completion of a short essay outlining the student’s long-term educational goals.
Collins, the daughter of Johnny and Kari Collins, is the current President of the Broken Arrow FFA Chapter. She has been an FFA member since 2007 and has served on several committees, participated in Career Development Events and has a Supervised Agricultural Experience project consisting of both sheep and swine production. She plans to attend Eastern Oklahoma State College in the fall of 2010.
Broken Arrow FFA is the local Chapter of the Oklahoma FFA Association and the National FFA Organization. The Broken Arrow FFA Chapter has 187 student members preparing for leadership careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
