Broken Arrow Public Schools has announced its Teachers of the Year for each individual school site.
Winners and their respective schools for the 2009-2010 school year are as follows: Sheryl Ree, Arrow Springs Elementary; Lea Ann Fry, Arrowhead Elementary; Tonya Standley, Broken Arrow Academy; Joan Kelly, Broken Arrow High School; Loren Pettys, Centennial Middle School; Ellen Huheey, Childers Middle School; Dana Watson, Country Lane Elementary; Shelley Olds, Country Lane 45 Elementary; Tammy Strickland, Haskell Middle School; Dawn Guthrie, Indian Springs Elementary; Mendy Schanck, Leisure Park Elementary; Jamie Wassom, Liberty Elementary; Lisa Calvert, Lynn Wood Elementary; Janice Airhart, Margaret Hudson Program; Jeremy Bryan, North Intermediate High School; Laura Smith, Oak Crest Elementary; Janice Curry, Oliver Middle School; Amy Hickman, Park Lane Elementary; Kit Parker, Rhoades Elementary; Kathy Williams, Sequoyah Middle School; Kristin Gillespie, South Intermediate High School; Teri Callison, Spring Creek Elementary; Leslie Jones, Vandever Elementary; Denise Green, Westwood Elementary and Donell Wilson, Wolf Creek Elementary.
All of the site winners will be recognized and honored at the annual Teacher of the Year Breakfast Dec. 3 located at Central on Main. One of the individuals above will hear his or her named called out as the 2009-20010 Broken Arrow Public Schools District Teacher of the Year at the TOY Reception Feb. 18, 2010 at the Broken Arrow High School cafeteria.
“What a great honor for each of these excellent teachers!” exclaims Broken Arrow Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Gary Gerber. “To be selected by your peers as the very best at your school where so many talented teachers serve our children daily is indeed tremendous recognition for these Site Teachers of the Year. I look forward to seeing how this year’s Teacher of the Year process plays out in our School District because one of these wonderful educators is going to be our 2009-2010 Broken Arrow Public Schools Teacher of the Year.”
