Olympic Trampolinist Trains Local Gymnasts
LEAPING FORWARD: Olympic trampolinist Chris Estrada made a stop in Broken Arrow to train local gymnasts. From left, Tori Monnet, Becca Caywood, Chris Estrada, Drew Hockaday, Sabrina Bogle and Matthew Tygart.
Chris Estrada, who represented the U.S.A. in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, conducted a two-day training clinic for local gymnasts. SSB Kids! hosted the clinic for their competitive team athletes who competed in the Junior Olympics National Championships in San Jose, California. This USA Gymnastics (USAG) sponsored event named National Champions at Levels 5-10 in age groups for all disciplines.
2008 was the first Olympic Games where a US male athlete qualified to compete on trampoline. Estrada placed 15 in the Beijing games. Estrada trains in Louisiana with Dmitri Poliarous, who was the 2008 Olympic coach, in hopes of making future U.S. Olympic teams.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring Chris Estrada to Oklahoma to train with our athletes. He is very selective in what gymnastic programs he visits so this is a chance of a lifetime for our athletes, says Mitchell Godi, owner and head coach. “I think the fact that we have a 10 year track record of training national champions was a strong factor in his decision. But more importantly, the fact that we train athletes to be strong in character, faith, physical strength and sportsmanship has given us a strong national reputation of being a quality program.” At SSB Kids, character always comes before victory, but character will always lead to success,” says Godi.
SSB Kids is a multi sports center and home to T3, Tulsa’s Tumbling and Trampoline Team owned by Mitchell and Priscilla Godi. To Inquire about how your athlete can become part of this world changing team, call 918-258-KIDS or visit our web site at www.ssbkids.com.
