BHS Drama and Debate Consistent Winners

The Bixby High School Drama and Debate team has had the honor of consistently taking home awards at local tournaments since November’s Muskogee Speech Tournament.

Students are looking forward to taking part in remaining tournaments and finishing out the successful season.

The following is an overview of the team’s performance this school year:

Muskogee Speech Tournament Nov. 3, 2007: third in Humorous Interpretation, Gabrielle Nguyen; third in Dramatic Interpretation, Dalayna Dillon; second in Dramatic Duet, Ashley Cole and Nikki Smith; first in Novice Debate, Isaiah Feken; third in Novice Debate, Rod Abhari.

Bishop Kelley Speech Tournament Nov. 10, 2007: first in Standard Oratory, Megan Slaton; third in Dramatic Interpretation, Avery Ketchum; second in Prose Interpretation, Jenny Remy; third in Prose Interpretation, Brenna McLaughlin; second in Monologue, Leah Myer; third in Monologue, Breckyn Davidson; first in Humorous Duet, Erin Martin and Justin Hendrix; first in Dramatic Duet, Rebecca Turnage and Gabby Nguyen; and second in Public Forum Debate, Baylor Cashmore and Taylor Greene.

Jenks Speech Tournament Jan. 11, 2008: first in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Rod Abhari; second in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Bailie Gregory; third in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Aric Cushing; first in Humorous Duet, Bre Francen and Lindsay Blankenship; second in Humorous Duet, Brenna McLaughlin and Hilary Tomlinson; second in Dramatic Duet, Avery Ketchum and Hilary Tomlinson; third in Dramatic Duet, Bethany Wallis and Justin Hendrix; first in Monologue Bethany Wallis; first in Dramatic Duet Erin Martin; and second in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Lauren Schmitt.

Sapulpa Speech Tournament Feb. 9, 2008: first in Original Oratory, Bailie Gregory; third in Original Oratory, Dalayna Dillon; second in Humorous Interpretation, Rod Abhari; first in Monologue, Hilary Tomlinson; second in Monologue, Bre Francen; third in Prose, Amy Jacobsen; first in Dramatic Duet, Erin Martin and Caleb Raynor; third Katie Lloyd and Annalisa Gwin-Vinsant; first in Champs Monologue, Bethany Wallis.
Bixby Drama and Debate won first place sweepstakes!

Eastern Oklahoma National Forensic League Competition, Feb 28-March 1: Bailie Gregory was Originial Oratory Champion. Annalisa Gwin-Vinsant placed second in Dramatic Interpretation. Avery Ketchum placed third, entitling all three to compete at the National Speech Tournament being held in Las Vegas, Nev. June 15-20.
